The 200G QSFP56 Active Electrical Cable (AEC) is engineered for high-density data-centre and HPC environments where passive DAC cables run out of reach and optical fibre is overkill at short distances. Each QSFP56 end houses integrated signal-conditioning electronics that extend reliable 200 Gb/s (4×56G PAM4) transmission up to 8 metres — well beyond the 3–5 m ceiling of passive copper — while keeping typical power consumption to just 3.5 W per end.
Unlike passive DAC cables, the onboard DSP retimes and equalises every lane, achieving a post-FEC bit-error rate below 10⁻¹⁵ across the full 0–70 °C operating range. The standard 38-pin QSFP56 edge connector and SFF-8636 EEPROM map guarantee interoperability with leading merchant-silicon switches, storage platforms and compute nodes without additional configuration. Available up to 8 m lengths, the cable is RoHS compliant.
