The ET2508 is an open, smart platform/gateway designed to address the intricate networking requirements of modern enterprises. With the rapid growth of cloud computing, big data, live broadcasting, AI, and IoT technologies, traditional enterprise networks often require multiple dedicated devices such as routers, firewalls, VPN gateways, IDS/IPS systems, load balancers, and network traffic analyzers. This results in complex, costly, and difficult-to-maintain networks. The ET2508 simplifies this complexity by leveraging a compute and switching fusion chip within an open architecture, effectively disaggregating software from hardware. This allows enterprises to consolidate all these functions into a versatile smart device. It uses the Marvell OCTEON 10 CN102XX chip. This chip integrates an 8-core ARM 64-bit Neoverse N2 processor, programmable Ethernet switch ports with a total throughput of 50 Gbps, and an embedded encryption/decryption engine with a processing capacity of 50 Gbps. Combined with optimized DPDK toolkits bound to these hardware components and an optional AI hardware accelerator capable of up to 160 TOPS, it enables full-stack analysis and intelligent processing of network traffic from the network layer to the application layer. Additionally, the ET2500 supports the installation of various Linux distributions, including Ubuntu, Debian, OpenWRT, and CentOS, fostering an open software ecosystem that includes VPP, UFW, OpenVPN, Snort, HAProxy, Nginx, ntopng, and other applications. Users can run multiple applications simultaneously on a single intelligent device, replacing the need for multiple dedicated hardware devices.
